Is this a battery inverter system?

Yes, but we do not use an inverter. We usually plug into electric or we use a generator which is included in the sale. When going thru neighborhoods, the freezers will keep frozen for about 3-4 hrs, depending on how many times you open them. The Battery Charging unit is installed if you do use an inverter. Pic attached in the photo section.
